LS Jeremy Cain: Jaguars Claim Long Snapper by Adam Caplan of ScoutNFLNetwork.com, June 18, 2009 at 2:15pm ET
Jeremy Cain Profile
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been awarded fourth-year LS Jeremy Cain
off waivers from the Washington Redskins, the Jaguars announced on Thursday.
Cain, 6-1, 245, has played in 17 games as a fullback/long snapper. Cain was
originally signed as an undrafted rookie by Chicago in 2004 and he appeared in
eight games over two seasons as a backup linebacker. He was not on an NFL roster
in 2006 but was signed by Tennessee on October 30, 2007. He played in nine games
and one postseason game for the Titans as a long snapper after an injury to Ken
Amato, and also saw action on the coverage units.
A native of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the 29-year old Cain was a two-time
All-America selection as a linebacker at the University of Massachusetts where
he ranked fifth on the school’s career list with 363 tackles. He played
linebacker and long snapper at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida.
For Cain to make the Jaguar roster, he'll have to beat out long-time starting
LS Joe Zelenka.
